Bright Star is a sweeping bluegrass musical written by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, it jumps between 1923 and 1945 to tell the story of literary editor Alice Murphy and a young soldier returning from World War II, whose lives are intertwined by deep, long-kept secrets.
